The destination

Ok, so this will be my very first blog post. Here it is. Ok. Well, um, so, what happens now? To be honest, I'm not really sure. I do know that this will provide me with a nice little outlet for my musings on various subjects as I navigate the waters of writing and publishing my work. Perhaps I'll share some details on what I've learned on the way.

I feel like this is yet another start to yet another journey. Not that this is a bad thing, of course. Most journeys I've been on have been terrific. One thing I've learned from making many journeys is that it's the travelling and not the destination that the most fun part. Sure, the destination can be fun too, but it's all the trials and tribulations of actually getting there that's the fun part. Having said that, it might not seem the case whilst actually on the journey. I remember being frustrated, annoyed, inconvenienced, troubled and generally put out by all the things that went wrong whilst on a journey. It wasn't until after the fact - sometimes years after the fact - that I was able to sit back and truly appreciate what happened on the way to my destination. Some of my most fond memories are of what happened whilst trying to get somewhere. Perhaps it'll be that way with my writing too. If the final destination in this context is becoming a successful author with lots of titles that have sold in their millions, then I can at least look forward to a very LONG journey ahead of me. I'll take solace in knowing that I will at least be able to sit back in the years ahead and think fondly of the very long journey that I was on. Perhaps I'll ponder at that time just how fun it was. That'll take my mind of how frustrating it can be at times at the moment!
